What does a distribution company do?

A film distributor is responsible for the marketing of the film and makes decisions like: setting a release date for a film and are also responsible for how the film will be available for viewing, for example, directly to the public (cinema) or for home viewing (DVD, video-on-demand, download, etc.)

Examples of film distributor in the UK include:
- 20th Century Fox
- Columbia Pictures
- Paramount pictures
- The Walt Disney company ltd.
